Councillor Brian Clark elected Deputy Mayor of Maidstone

21 May 2025

We are delighted to announce that Brian Clark was elected Deputy Mayor of Maidstone on Saturday 17 May 2025.  Brian has been a Maidstone Borough Councillor since 2015, initially for South Ward, then for Loose and Linton following a boundary review.

Brian grew up and continues to live locally with his wife and two children. He has been involved in his community for many years, having served as the sub-postmaster at Loose Post Office and as a committee member of the North Loose Residents Association.

Brian served as county councillor for South Maidstone from 2013 to 2017 and is currently Vice Chairman of the Maidstone Joint Transportation Board. He is also a long term trustee at Hayle Park Nature Reserve.

The role of the Deputy Mayor is to support the Mayor in their busy round of engagements and to act as an “apprenticeship” ahead of the election for Maidstone Mayor in 2026.

Brian comments: “I’m delighted to have been elected deputy mayor at the Maidstone Borough Annual General Meeting today alongside our new mayor Martin Round. It was a lovely day and I’m very much looking forward to the year ahead.”
