
About Joe
Joe moved to Maidstone in 2008 to take up a position as Lead Teacher at a local secondary school. Previously, he served as an officer in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and has worked in France and Germany. He is currently teaching A Levels at the local college and serves as a union representative with a Health and Safety brief.
He has a son who has grown up in Maidstone and is about to become a Maidstonian in his own right, having secured a place at Maidstone Grammar School.
Political Experience
Joe was elected to the council in 2024, having been involved with the Liberal Democrat team for several years prior and previously standing in another ward. He is currently Chair of the Climate Transition, Corporate and Environmental Services PAC – a role that oversees a significant portion of the council’s budget. He also serves on other committees, including Overview and Scrutiny, Crime and Disorder, and the Maidstone Joint Transportation Board.
Other Appointments
Joe has been appointed to the Maidstone–Beauvais Twinning Association and is a trustee of Hayle Park Nature Reserve.

Joe describes himself as "liberal with a big L" and is deeply committed to upholding values such as social justice, enabling individuals to succeed, rewarding hard work and determination through economic liberalism, and championing personal freedom and a fairer society.
