In developing a response to the Kent Minerals and Waste local plan 2013-30 Consultation, members of Maidstone’s Strategic Planning and Infrastructure committee agreed to welcome the Expansion of the Tovil Household Waste and Recycling Centre and the provision of a second waste site in the East of the Borough.

Cllr Clark, who supported amendment to welcome these inclusions, commented, “For a number of years I have worked with KCC officers and my fellow ward Councillors Derek Mortimer and Paul Wilby to develop capacity improvements to the Tovil facility, and to ensure the required works receive strategic funding from developer contributions in the local plan review”

“We have also campaigned for an additional site in the borough, desperately needed to reduce the strain on roads around the Tovil facility, and we are delighted that this second site is now moving forward.”
