Bin Chaos. A tale of a totally avoidable disaster.

Over the past fortnight residents have been shocked by the hasty and botched introduction of the Council's new Refuse collection contracts. Whilst it is never entirely easy to introduce a major change like this the Conservative administration appears to have been underprepared for the issues. The problems with delayed, or completely missed collections have been worsened by the Council not having a prepared communication strategy with the website not giving up-to-date or accurate information and the switchboard collapsing under the press of complaints.

Liberal Democrat Councillors have been reporting information to the Council to ensure it does have accurate information and have been pushing hard to sort out this mess and to get the Collections back on track. We are also trying to rectify the Council's poor communications with the public. It’s just a pity the Conservative led Council did not plan properly in the first place.
