As part of Kent County Councils ongoing update of the Kent Minerals and Waste Plan, a number of changes are out to consultation.

Only one location has been nominated a a potential site for the proposed extraction of Hard rock which is south and West of Hermitage Quarry in Aylesford.

Our position as Liberal Democrats is that this proposal includes Oaken Wood which is Ancient Woodland and is protected by the Government’s National Planning Policy Framework as an “irreplaceable habitat”. We do not see that the benefits can be mitigated, and this will result in a significant loss to our local environment and to Kent.

Kent County Council are now consulting on the proposal which will end on the 25th of July so please take your chance to have your say.

Go to www.kent.gov.uk/mineralsandwaste for the information and scroll down to the questionnaire.
