Congratulations Councillor Passmore!

7 Jul 2023

After a hard-fought campaign and a nail-biting conclusion Maidstone Liberal Democrats are happy to introduce Kent County Council’s newest councillor Chris Passmore for the Maidstone Central Division.

With all candidates and their supporters working hard to win votes the final result came down to the wire with Chris polling 1,860 votes to the Green Party candidate Stuart Jeffery polling 1,849 votes.  With the result being so close a recount was requested before the final result was announced at approximately 2:20am Friday 7th July.

Chris said:

“I am delighted to have successfully held the seat for the Liberal Democrats thanks to an impressive team effort from local and regional activists. There are a number of very significant environmental, social and economic challenges we face and I am committed to work constructively to get the best outcomes for all the residents of Maidstone.”

The by-election was called because of the death of Dan Daley in March 2023 who served as a County Councillor for over 20 years. The next Kent County Council elections will be in May 2025.

The Maidstone Liberal Democrat party would like to pass on their heartfelt congratulations to Chris and we all look forward to serving the residents of Maidstone together.
