|Address||2 Old Loose Close,
I have represented Loose Ward for the past 10 years and, during that time, I have had the opportunity to sit on several committees in various roles. I currently hold the position of Vice Chair on the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Committee and have found that I am ideally positioned to be a major player in decisions relating to the growth of the Borough. With the Local Plan Review currently on the agenda, I feel it is vital to retain the continuity of that position to protect vulnerable areas from overdevelopment. As part of this role, I attend regular weekly meetings with both MBC and KCC to work on the Strategic Plan Review for the Borough, meet the challenges of increased housing demands from Central Government and assist in the development of schemes to improve all aspects of infrastructure.
I work closely with Loose Parish Council and together we continue to make all the decisions relating to Loose Parish.
My heart is in Loose and Loose is my home. I have lived here for most of the last 45 years (moving away for a couple of years when I was first married). I care deeply about its protection. I want Loose to be well maintained and I want local issues to be heard at local authority level and acted upon. I do not need to research these problems as I live in the Village.
I have always held a monthly surgery at my home but, due to Covid-19, I have had to suspend this service until it is safe to reopen.
I am a founder member of SMART (South Maidstone Action for Roads & Transport) and have lobbied heavily for improvements to highway issues in the Borough.
I was a Justice of the Peace for 10 years and, because of the knowledge I gained as a Magistrate, I now sit on an External Ethics Board for Kent Police.
I have been Chairman of Mid-Kent MIND for the last three years having served as a Trustee for the past 10 years.
I have been married to Paul for 37 years and retired from running the local ‘The Chequers’ 7 years ago. I am a Mother and a Grandmother.
