Bio

Rob Bird was first elected as a Liberal Democrat county councillor in October 2012. Together with Dan Daley, Rob represents Maidstone Central Division which includes Allington, Bridge, Fant, Heath and High Street Wards.

Rob has lived in the Maidstone area for over 30 years and worked in banking, treasury management and business planning until he retired in 2009. He is a long-standing member of the Liberal Democrats. He strongly believes in supporting and empowering local communities and giving everyone a fair opportunity in life.

In 2017 Rob was elected Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group and became Leader of the Opposition at Kent County Council. He is the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for finance at County Hall. He is determined to make the County Council better run and more accountable to the people of Kent.

Rob is Chairman of the Trustee Board at Citizen Advice Maidstone where he previously worked as a volunteer advisor. He is a keen gardener and, when time permits, he enjoys watching Kent playing cricket.
