Local Resident and Campaigning Organisations condemn attempts to prevent action to protect the last Green space in Allington.
Over the last few months, Local Residents and campaigners including the Merlin (Medway Ecological Riverine Link) Group have been pressing KCC to register Bunyard’s Farm the last Green area on the Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling border as a Village Green.
Kent County council have shown every indication of believing this to be a valid application, however, Tonbridge and Malling Council have simply not responded to the requirement to respond to the Application and are still sitting on the information required by KCC to progress the Application.
Tom Wilkinson is co-ordinating a petition to put pressure on both Tonbridge and Malling Councils to take action to preserve this last part of the once significant Green barrier between Maidstone and Malling and urged residents to join in him in putting pressure on the two Councils to act. He said: “ It is time that our Local Councils took action to turn warm words on dealing with climate change and protecting our natural environment into action before it is too late. We also hope to hear from residents who can help us provide the necessary evidence to establish that the area has been used as a recreational area by residents over the last 20 years so that we can preserve the area for future generations.
Chris Passmore co-ordinator of Merlin added. “This is pretty much the last chance to preserve some of the Green Space in Allington and it would be tragic if it were lost due to a failure to progress this Village Green application in time”
