Marden and Yalding Ward
Marden and Yalding Ward encompasses the villages of Marden and Yalding and several smaller communities including Collier Street and Nettlestead. It is primarily rural but the Marden industrial estate is a significant source of employment. Marden and, to a lesser extent, Yalding are also commuter villages with train services to London and nearby towns. New housing developments have put pressure on infrastructure in Marden and have aroused major opposition from local residents. The area is prone to flooding as it is located on the floodplain of the River Beult. Yalding is particularly affected as it is where the Rivers Teise and Beult join the River Medway.
