Lib Dems move forward Greensand Ridge protection

Our countryside is facing many varied threats.  The unprecedented housing growth demanded by Government policy and the nature of modern farming methods are just two of these.

The Liberal Democrats on Maidstone Borough Council have recognised the importance to our local environment of the Greensand Ridge, with its views across the Low Weald.

They recently took the initiative and proposed that work begin on preparing a bid to create a new ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ covering villages from Loose, Coxheath and Boughton Monchelsea  across to Sutton Valence, East Sutton and Ulcombe. This was agreed in Council and the application was submitted and is under consideration as part of a Government initiative

Richard Webb commented, “I am passionate about our local environment.  Even in these days of cuts and austerity, we must protect our special landscapes including the Greensand Ridge, a unique part of Kent”.
