Maidstone Borough Council has just received the latest planning application for Fant Farm.
This scheme is for 225 houses, a little less than the 270 in the previous proposal, and does not include a country park. Nonetheless, it is wholly inappropriate for this area and most unwelcome.
Earlier this year MBC councillors unanimously agreed to designate this part of the Medway Valley as Land of Local Landscape Importance, the highest level of protection available to a local authority. Liberal Democrats at MBC have pledged to work with other councillors to continue to protect Fant Farm.
The developer has claimed that the vast majority of local residents are content with their proposals. This is clearly untrue but it shows it is crucial that residents voice their objections now to give the strongest possible message to MBC. The application can be found online at http://pa.midkent.gov.uk/ using the reference 15/509962. Please also send your comments to Rosaline at [email protected] with a copy to [email protected]
