Controversial Bridge Ward application refused on appeal

Local Liberal Democrat Spokesman Ben Webster-Whitting has welcomed news that the controversial proposal to build 18 flats at 51 London Road has been refused by the Planning Inspector following the Appeal hearing on 14th January.

Ben said, "This proposal which was refused by the Council in March 2019 would have seriously affected residents, with particular harm being felt in Whitchurch Close. and was also unacceptable in terms of Highway and Pedestrian safety. The appeal decision is a victory for the determination of local residents, who along with local councillors, such as former Lib Dem Councillor David Pickett had consistently objected to the many attempts to secure development on this site".
