Maidstone Borough Council has written a further letter to the Government raising serious concerns about the amount of Housing the Government is forcing upon some Local Councils.
Over four months has elapsed since all the parties on the Borough Council joined together to write to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to raise our concerns around the Government’s methodology for setting housing targets for local councils.
As yet there has been no reply whatsoever to a letter supported not only by the whole Council but by Helen Grant MP.
Leader of the Council Martin Cox said "It is discouraging that despite the serious concerns expressed across the political spectrum the Secretary of State will not even acknowledge the attempts of Councils of all political colours to discuss the very serious issues raised by the headlong rush to build more and more homes without the needed roads schools and GP surgeries to support them, instead the Government are talking about further removing what limited Planning Regulations still exist."
