Bluebell Woods - A Message from Liberal Democrat Borough Councillors Dan Daley, Cynthia Robertson & Belinda Watson (Allington Ward) and Bryan Vizzard & James Willis (Heath Ward)
We are writing to you concerning the planning appeal relating to the land off Hermitage Lane known as Bluebell Woods. As residents will know, following the refusal of planning permission by the planning committee of Maidstone Borough Council, the applicant appealed. This appeal was heard by a Planning Inspector in June this year and his recommendations were subsequently passed to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Greg Clark MP.
Despite the overwhelming support from residents and what we held to be a strong case for protecting this woodland, we regret to inform you that the Secretary of State has allowed the developer’s appeal. The notice and the Inspector’s report are available to view and download on the DCLG website by clicking here.
We would like to thank everyone who helped by attending the planning committee meetings and by submitting objections to the Council and to the Planning Inspectorate.
We are extremely disappointed with this outcome but wish to assure you that we will continue to work hard to minimise the potential damage to the woodland and surrounding areas.
