2020/21 budget agreed

At the Full Council meeting on 26th February Councillors voted cross-party to support the Budget proposed by Liberal Democrat Leader of the Council and Martin Cox.

Martin stressed that the budget was financially prudent and designed to help the Council face many challenges including delivering the Local Plan Review but that the budget also included bold measures such as a strong commitment to fighting climate change with a £1million allocated for capital spending in this area. The meeting also agreed against opposition from some Conservative Councillors to continue with the Members' Community Grants of £1000 each for a further year, using money already available within the 2019/20 budget.

Martin said "the Members' Community Grants have been of tremendous help to many small organisations and charities and  achieve results out of all proportion to the small amounts of money involved"
